Not just an enclosure, but a fully certified system including the innovative iSOLATE intellectual property; the iWAP107 enables cost effective wireless networking in hazardous areas.
Choose the latest 802.11AC access points from market leaders like Cisco, Aruba, Siemens and more – make the most of their MIMO functionality for high performance Wi-Fi, even in metallic process environments.
You can also use other wireless devices, such as LTE routers and IoT gateways.
If you’re looking to use UHF RFID readers, check out the iRFID100 universal RFID reader system, based on the same technology as the iWAP107!
Installation and maintenance are simpler and quicker too. You can use standard tools – the iSOLATE-CT Connector Transits mean there’s no need for barrier glands to install antennas – and what’s more, the antennas can be connected and disconnected live for minimal downtime.
The iWAP107 is designed to withstand the most hazardous of conditions and is extremely rugged, with IP66 ingress protection. However, we understand that just because equipment needs to be durable, doesn’t mean that it should take up too much space or be awkward to install. The iWAP107’s internal design packs lots of functionality into a compact space, giving outer dimensions of just 415 x 315 x 250mm. Weighing in at around 65lbs for an aluminium option, the iWAP107 can be easily maneuvered for installation across a range of locations.
The Exloc and Extronics teams are here to help you on every step of your wireless journey. We have sales engineers on hand to advise you before making a purchase, an experienced team to build your iWAP107 to your required specification, and a crew of after-sales technical support to answer any queries you might have.
The iWAP107 is covered by the standard Extronics warranty. We also offer an Extended Warranty option, for up to 5 years’ coverage of your iWAP107.
With intrinsically safe RF outputs and explosion proof N-type antenna connections thanks to Extronics’ iSOLATE technology, you can choose from a wide variety of standard simple apparatus antennas. Get better reliability, lower cost, and improved coverage without the need for certification, and still be fully compliant with all hazardous area equipment regulations.
The iWAP107 access point enclosures have been deployed on site at Texmark Chemicals, Inc as part of a wireless infrastructure with Aruba access points and HPE Edgeline edge compute devices connected to I/O. We’re excited to hear that the technology is helping Texmark create the Refinery of the Future and streamline their processes.
The iWAP XN3 is a safe, reliable way to use the latest wireless technologies in ATEX and IECEx Zone 2 and 22 and North American Class I, II Division 2 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. It replaces the successful iWAP200 and iWAP202 ranges adding US Division 2 certification to the list of approvals.
Choose any wireless technology from any vendor – including Wi-Fi access points, LTE routers, UHF RFID readers, IoT gateways including LoRa, WiHART, or ISA100, and more!
The iWAP XN3 comes complete with all the certification needed for installation in ATEX, IECEx, and North American hazardous areas. You don’t need additional certification, no matter which wireless technology you choose.
The iWAP XN3 is a truly universal system – you choose whichever wireless technology you like, from any vendor. That includes Wi-Fi access points, UHF RFID readers, LTE routers, and IoT gateways with technology like LoRa, WiHART, and ISA100.
The iWAP XN3 includes Extronics’ leading iSOLATE technology, providing intrinsically safe RF outputs with standard N-type connectors. That means you can use non-certified simple apparatus antennas, giving you more choice, optimal performance, and a lower budget spend.
It also means you can easily connect or disconnect antennas by hand, with no need for special tools, and you don’t need to power down the unit or get a hot work permit either.
If you’re not sure what simple apparatus antennas are, we’re happy to assist. Every antenna in our iANT2xx range has already been evaluated by our engineers and meets all the requirements for simple apparatus.
The iWAP XN3’s internal chassis packs lots of functionality into a compact space. It’s available in four standard sizes to give you the most space-saving solution that meets your technical needs. Our engineers will review the wireless technology you’ve chosen, alongside your operational requirements, to recommend the most effective size for your application.
For OEM customers and particular use cases requiring non-standard sizes, contact us to discuss your requirements.
Weighing in at around 20kg (depending on your chosen internal wireless technology), the iWAP XN3 is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre in a variety of locations. With integrated mounting flanges, it’s simple to install on flat surfaces. A pole mount bracket is also available.
The iWAP XN3’s external Ex ec junction box puts practicality are the forefront, allowing the use of simple Ex e or NPT glands. It contains all the connectors you’ll need for your required specification, such as Ethernet RJ45 terminals, console ports, mains power, and fibre options.
The iWAP XN3’s enclosure is high integrity, tightly sealed with minimal atmospheric movement. That means you don’t have to carry out routine nR maintenance testing.
The iWAP XN3 has an innovative extruded body with fins that act as heat sinks, reducing the internal temperature of the enclosure, and the white epoxy powder coating also minimises the impact of solar loading when the enclosure is in direct sunlight. These make the iWAP XN3 a suitable way to deploy wireless technologies in high ambient temperatures.
Made from marine-grade aluminium and finished with a durable epoxy powder coating, the iWAP XN3 is designed for outdoor installation in harsh industrial environments. It’s IP66 and NEMA 4 rated too, able to withstand exposure to the elements.

The iWAP Mobile provides the ability to quickly deploy wireless infrastructure in remote hazardous classified locations, or parts of a plant that do not have permanent WLAN coverage. It can also be conveniently used to perform RF planning surveys prior to installing a WLAN system.
The system utilizes a verified access point of your choice installed in one of Extronics’ hazloc wireless access point enclosures, together with one or two Extronics’ hazloc antennas—all housed in a rugged anti-static polypropylene wheeled transportation case.
Various types of explosion-proof (Exd) live disconnect connectors can be fitted for hookup to power and Ethernet networks, or to allow multiple iWAP Mobile systems to be interconnected for special applications. A range of cable reels and special cable assemblies are available to achieve maximum efficiency, safety, and convenience in the field.
Seals on the door of the rolling case provide IP66 environmental protection yet permit total access. All leading radio hardware vendors are supported, including Cisco, Motorola, Meru, Aruba, and Firetide—tell us what you would like to use.
