With forty-nine alarm tones to choose from these intrinsically safe sounders allow you to pick sounds which will penetrate the ambient background noise in your plant. Second and third stage tones are easily triggered by secondary control circuits. Tones are selected by DIP switches, and there’s also a volume control. A crystal controlled oscillator accurately defines the frequency and repetition rate of each alarm signal. This insures that multiple sounders set to the same tone(s) remain synchronized throughout your plant.
BR385 Sounder Alone Recommendations
- Option 1 – single sounder installation:The BR385 Sounder requires a singleintrinsic safety barrier with safety/entity parameters not exceeding the following values: Uo/Voc=28V, Io/Isc=93mA, Po/Po=660mW
- Option 2 – multiple sounders, use of multi-channel barrier for economy:
Note that while each sounder has it’s own dedicated barrier channel, a complete failure of the barrier module will affect all alarm notifications associated with it.
Sounder & Beacon Barrier Recommendations
- Option 1 – mutual two-wire connection: The BA386 Beacon & BR385 Sounder Combination may be powered from a single intrinsic safety barrierproviding 16VDC @ 35mA and with safety/entity parameters not exceeding the following values: Uo/Voc=28V, Io/Isc=93mA, Po/Po=660mW.
- Suitable barriers: P&F KFDO-SD2-Ex1.1045; MTL5025
Note that failure of the single barrier will negate both alarm notification modes.
- Option 2 – high integrity four-wire connection, beacon and sounder powered separately:
- The BA386 Beacon requires a singleintrinsic safety barrier with safety/entity parameters not exceeding the following values: Uo/Voc=32V, Io/Isc=110mA, Po/Po=800mW.
- Suitable barrier: GMI D1048S /D1049S / D5048S / D5049S using output “B” terminals in each case.
- The BR385 Sounder requires a single intrinsic safety barrier with safety/entity parameters not exceeding the following values: Uo/Voc=28V, Io/Isc=93mA, Po/Po=660mW. Suitablebarrier: GMI D1048S / D1049S /D5048S / D5049S using output “C” terminals in each case.
Note that the failure of one barrier will leave the other alarm notification mode working.
- Option 3 – multiple beacon & sounder combos, use of multi-channel barrierfor economy:
